Our Method
At 59 Degrees, soil work does not start with products or recipes. It starts with a repeatable diagnostic workflow that removes as much guesswork as possible, so each recommendation can be traced back to a clear pattern in your context.
No guesswork, just pattern
Most soil advice is still built on incomplete data. At 59 Degrees, every project follows a fixed, evidence‑led workflow: clarify context, sample correctly, read the soil as a whole system, start small, and scale only what works.
This turns “I think” into “we know”, and it means your amendments, rotations, and microbial inputs are justified by data, not just anecdotes.
Context first
Every engagement starts with your climate, water, soil type, history, and business goals, so recommendations are realistic for your place, not copied from somewhere else. At every opportunity, we rely on what is measured and observed, not what we merely assume – and the gap between those two is often where profit or loss, joy or stress, is decided. In Swedish, that gap is often called “läropäng” – the tuition you pay for what you did not yet know.

One clear working hypothesis
From this picture, we identify the primary limiting factor in your system – for example, an air–water issue, a Ca:Mg imbalance, or a lack of biological energy – instead of producing a long shopping list.
We use consistent soil testing (including Albrecht‑style base saturation) combined with simple field checks of structure, rooting, and biological activity to see how the soil is really functioning.
Confidence built from understanding
Focusing on targeted interventions means you stop paying for amendments, rotations, or microbial products that are not clearly justified.
The workflow demands evidence before scaling, which reduces financial risk, time, and input waste while building confidence that the system is moving in the right direction, even in variable seasons.
Our method has been under refinement since 2014 and is still being modified as new patterns and better tools emerge.
